Bonzer Vision

Here you’ll find an ontology of videos and words relevant to the Bonzer Experience.

“Next year when Malcolm came back […], I also took the opportunity to sit with him and investigate something I felt no one was documenting, everyone asking seemed to be concerned with how they work but while I watched people come and go and as I sat in the bay with Malcolm a pattern in the conversation appeared to me . Malcolm would talk about the Bonzer as a lifestyle or a Way of life to him. It seemed to be going over peoples heads, as if he hadnt even said it. I’m not sure if Malcolm had been waiting for someone to ask him to elaborate but when I did his eyes seemed to light up and I sat with him for about an hour in the back of my old Peugeot estate while he explained to me what he meant. To him the Idea of the Bonzer seemed to come from a certain mental space maybe ethereal I dont know , a free-er Creative Realm . I recognised a thankfulness for the Bonzer design/Idea . Malcolm’s genuine gratitude for what the Bonzer had brought in his life, a living and people that thought the same way , the magnetism of the design seemed to draw like minded people into his space, people he could relate to and enjoy the company of. I feel lucky to be one of those and also enjoyed the company of Malcolm and other Bonzer riders. There is definitely something going on! My regards to all the Bonzer Lovers out there , and a small plea to the non believers… for fork sake give one a go!! You might just like it. PEACE.” — Lee Evans

The passage of time
Is flicking dimly up on the screen
I can’t see the lines
I used to think I could read between
Perhaps my brains have turned to sand

“Either way, it is clear that Ferry has set the tone for a 1970s in which the male is both glamorous and glamoured, himself a gorgeously-styled photogenic object, entranced and seduced by a cosmetic beauty he partly wants to make contact with, but mostly wants to cold pastoralise into an immutable untouchability. ‘Mother of Pearl’ […] is the closest Ferry comes to writing a manifesto for his meta-melancholia, a meta-love song about the impossibility – and undesirability – of attaining the Ideal object.” — Mark Fisher

Oh me oh my
I think it’s been an eternity
You’d be surprised
At my degree of uncertainty
How can moments go so slow

“The roughest diamond in the mine, his musical inventions are made of bone and mud. Enter the strange matrix of his mind and lose yours. This is indispensable for the serious listener. An expedition into the centre of the earth, this is the high jump record that’ll never be beat, it’s a merlot reduction sauce. He takes da bait. Dante doing the buck and wing at a Skip James suku jump. Drink once and thirst no more.” — Tom Waits

Several times
I’ve seen the evening slide away
Watching the signs
Taking over from the fading day
Perhaps my brains are old and scrambled

We are in an age that assumes the narrowing trends of specialization to be logical, natural, and desirable. Consequently, society expects all earnestly responsible communication to be crisply brief. Advancing science has now discovered that all the known cases of biological extinction have been caused by overspecialization, whose concentration of only selected genes sacrifices general adaptability. Thus the specialist’s brief for pinpointing brevity is dubious. In the meantime, humanity has been deprived of comprehensive understanding. Specialization has bred feelings of isolation, futility, and confusion in individuals. It has also resulted in the individual’s leaving responsibility for thinking and social action to others. Specialization breeds biases that ultimately aggregate as international and ideological discord, which in turn leads to war. — Fuller

If this work seems so threatening, this is because it isn’t simply eccentric or strange, but competent, rigorously argued, and carrying conviction — Derrida

I’m not a drowning man!
And I’m not a burning building! (I’m a tumbler!)
Drowning cannot hurt a man!
Fire cannot hurt a man. (Not the Government Man.)

Who would believe what a poor set of eyes can show you
Who would believe what an innocent voice could do
Never a silence always a face at the door

So as long as the mind is comparing, there is no love, and the mind is always judging, comparing, weighing, looking to find out where the weakness is. So where there is comparison, there is no love. — KM

No matter what I did it never seemed enough
He said I was lazy, I said I was young
He said, “How many songs did you write?”
I’d written zero, I lied and said, “Ten.”
“You won’t be young forever
You should have written fifteen”
It’s work, the most important thing is work

I repeat myself when under stress.
I repeat myself when under stress.
I repeat myself when under stress.
I repeat myself when under stress.

Music is the cup that holds the wine of silence. Sound is that cup, but empty. Noise is that cup, but broken.

I repeat…
The more I look at it,
The more I like it.
I do think it’s good.

The fact is..
No matter how closely I study it,
No matter how I take it apart,
No matter how I break it down,

It remains consistent.

There’s a little place, a place called space
It’s a pretty little place, it’s across the tracks

We believe that the possibility for everything already exists. Nothing is truly original. It is only original to our consciousness timezone. We as human beings manifest things in the physical world.

The idea concerns the fact that this country wants nostalgia. They want to go back as far as they can – even if it’s only as far as last week. Not to face now or tomorrow, but to face backwards. And yesterday was the day of our cinema heroes riding to the rescue at the last possible moment. The day of the man in the white hat or the man on the white horse – or the man who always came to save America at the last moment – someone always came to save America at the last moment – especially in “B” movies. And when America found itself having a hard time facing the future, they looked for people like John Wayne. But since John Wayne was no longer available, they settled for Ronald the Ray-gun and it has placed us in a situation that we can only look at -like a “B” movie —Gil Scott-Heron

Duncan and I are stubborn guys. We’ll go down with the ship. The Bonzer hasn’t reached it’s full potential yet. The ultimate performance capabilities of the design have yet to be demonstrated

“Bowie’s antinarrative lyrics, his antihero stance, his dependence on sounds and words that are suggestive rather than explicit, and his playing of banal surfaces against textures of real depth all speak for a future-in-the-present in which one must protect oneself from the world, from other people and from one’s own visions, desires and fears–while at the same time giving all of those things form and weight. What is defined is the nature of the distance involved, its necessity and its risks. This is an aesthetic that, when it works, combines a retreat into art with an affirmation of the world one has retreated from; it’s an aesthetic that holds life in reserve, and to hear it in action can be transporting.” — Greil Marcus

If you want to be a different fish, you’ve got to jump out of the school

T.I.C.:  And it’s inscribed with the title of the exhibition: Absolute Independent Reality Is Hard To Find.  Where does that come from?

J.C.:  It’s from a William James lecture.  William James, whom I previously submitted to your blog for the “Amazing Beards” series.

T.I.C.:  That’s right!  It was indeed an amazing beard.

J.C.:  [laughs]  Anyway, it’s from a lecture called “Pragmatism and Humanism,”  from 1907, I want to say.  He’s talking about the ways in which we, as human beings, instantly assimilate experience to fit within the perceptual frameworks we develop over a lifetime.  How, when we attempt to understand reality, we want to automatically put the experience into a box—mentally describing how we see things and feel about them.  But James is saying there’s something that exists outside of the description, something that’s independent of our perception, a reality that’s absolute, untouched by the human impression.  It’s out there, but it’s hard to find.  For me, I relate this to surfing, which I believe can be a direct route to experiencing this type of pure reality.  A surfer can have maybe a handful of these experiences in a lifetime, maybe just one that they can single out, and it’s that semi-clichéd thing of the ‘endless moment’ when you’re on a wave and everything’s happening and nothing’s happening at the same time.  The prospect of it is what keeps people getting back in the water, I would say.

Last night I dreamed that I was swimming in a sea
Like always, with everything I went in too deep

The ‘Vehicle of Vehicles’ is ‘Merkabah’ which creates, controls, and has the ability ‘to speak’ through electromagnetic sinks. Merkabah revolves and goes, and rises under the heaven, or brightness of the next universe, and its course goes over the Earth with the ‘light of its rays’ incessantly into myriads of universes within the ever unfolding eternity.
