The Fonz
Full disclosure: we have been incorporating our bonzer bottom with the twinzer concept over the last few years. Anything from Speed Eggs, to MBLVs, to more performance oriented shapes are getting “The Fonz” treatment (four-fin bonzer = fonzer), so coined by friend Kevin McClellan of SOUL Surfboards.
The Fonz make for great options in small to medium size waves, though like all bonzers they can be pushed and hold their own in more solid surf as well.
We are primarily utilizing our AO twin fins combined with leading Bonzer 5 side fins, a la Mike Eaton’s “Zinger”, but we also have been making ones with Will Jobson’s classic twinzer fin setup. The differences in ride between these two setups aren’t drastic; the Bonzer sides will provide more of that drivey ‘bonzer’ feel (surprise) rail to rail and down the line, with a little bit more hold through turns. The regular twinzer canards by comparison may have a quicker pivot and tighter turning radius. In either case, and we are happy to represent this proven design concept within our lineup of vehicles.
